Kids say the darndest things...which make them yummy like cookies!

I teach 4 and 5 year olds on Sundays and I have decided that their innocence is one of the sweetest and most adorable things I've ever experienced! Their little minds get distracted...they answer my questions with off-the-wall, random things... and they smother me with hugs and smiles each Sunday I see them, no matter how frumpy I look. Yes, heartbreakers, they are. But best of all? The precious things that leave these kids' mouths are honestly the highlight of my being their teacher. So, I MUST share. And you WILL melt.

-Maya's delayed response to my question about Heavenly Father helping us keep His commandments:

"Did you know that I fell and stubbed my toe... and it really hurt?"

-Emily (my mouthy/rowdy and rather unaffectionate kid), explaining to me her odd-looking picture she drew that I could not interpret but seemed to have tears streaming down the paper (She used her soft and kind voice):

"That's me petting the baby when it's feeling sad and hungry."

-Ezra's prayer last Sunday at the end of class (He has a mild speech impediment which makes him even more adorable):

"Heavenly Father, please bless my mom, and please bless my dad, and bless my family, and please bless mommy that she will have two boys and a girl...Amen."

(Mom explained to me that Ezra is adopted and then, while cringing, she said that this habitual prayer comes from the fact she and her husband are trying "in vitro" this month...I don't blame her for not wanting all three at once)!

-Ezra's response to me gently scolding him for kissing Maya on the cheek during the lesson when she doesn't want to be kissed:

*Sigh*..."Oh, okay...but...well...I know, but it's just that...I just love her so much!!"

-Part of Dienne's closing prayer one Sunday:

"...and please bless all the people that they will have enough food to eat..." (Dienne is from the Congo)

...more to come next Sunday... :)

it gets really fun when it is your own kid saying those things! I taught sunbeams for a little bit and I couldn't handle their energy, but they sure were cute.

Jess this is so funny!
I just love her so much!!" How cute is that!

This is my first time teaching primary since I'm a member of the Church (13 years), Wade and I are now teaching CTR 8 the ones that are getting ready to get baptized, and we are writing the "crazy-funny" things they say every sunday too. Is funny, we can probably write a cute book about it one day!
Love it, and I love that picture of your growing boy!
