Sounds I appreciate. Listen.

Lately, I've been thinking about how much I appreciate the sound of certain things. Some bring me comfort or joy… others take me back to special places and times, and I relive how I felt and learned in those moments. Basically, these sounds make my life a little sweeter, a little richer.

1. The sound of silence.
2. The sound of Maxwell enunciating his words while carrying a tune.
3. The sound of my mother's voice.
4. The sound of the piano in Donny Hathaway's original "A Song For You."
5. The sound of Donny Hathaway's soulful/honest voice.
6. Maxwell's innocent butt sounds.
7. The sound of "thank you"
8. The sound of "i love you"
9. The sound of my breath after a long, hard run.
10. The sound of Maxwell pretending to be a monster or a tiger.
11. The sound of the garage door going up when hubby comes home.
12. The sound of excitement in Maxwell's voice when daddy/mommy comes home.
13. The sound of the Spanish language being spoken. (I was recently at a family party and met a man and his mother, who are both from cuba, and conversed with them in Spanish. I enjoyed sharing their language, hearing their accents, and watching them joke with each other in ways you can only do in Spanish. I had so much fun I almost peed myself).
14. The sound of Kenneth Cope's "Prayer unto Thee"

If you stop and listen, I bet you'll be able to hear some of the sounds that do the same for you.
